Extra Financial Rewards

Info

Please be aware, that all extra financial rewards are voluntary and depend on the health and situation of the company at the time.

If the company runs well and when we have reached our goals, all employees of nxt should benefit from it financially. This benefit is composed of two parts:

  1. A part that depends on your salary during the respective period.
  2. An equally distributed part.

The first part comes in form of a 13th monthly salary, of which half is usually paid in the summer and the rest usually in the winter. The second part (the bonus) is an arbitrary amount and rewards our team effort as nxt. It is also paid in the summer and in the winter.

Note

All of these extra compensations are prorated based on your degree of employment in the respective period.

Examples of this rule:

  • If your degree of employment was 80%, you will get 80% of your share of (half of) the 13th monthly salary plus 80% of your share of the bonus.
  • If you started in October (i.e. worked only three out of six months) and the degree of your employment was 80%, you get only half of the above's 80% share.

Extra Rewards Decision Process

The management reviews the situation of the company at least every six months, that is at least once in the summer and at least once in the winter. During the review it considers two factors, namely the financial situation and whether we reached the goals we set ourselves. If both factors are satisfied, the management decides whether one half of a 13th monthly salary will be paid out. And if the respective semester went well, the management decides whether an additional bonus will be added on-top.

Conversion to Vacation Days

The management will decide, whether the extra financial rewards (i.e. 13th monthly salary and bonus) can be converted to a number of additional vacation days. The maximum number of vacation days to be converted is 5 days for a full-time employment, but it can be decided that it is lower based on the current situation. The maximum amount is pro-rated for part-time employees according to their degree of employment. Employees may only convert vacation days if these days can subsequently be used in the remaining year, so that they don't overshoot the contractual limit of vacation days at the end of the year.

One vacation day amounts to your average salary during that period divided by the average actual degree of employment (in days) of that period, where a full year is 252 working days, multiplied by the factor `1.4``. The remaining bonus is paid out.

Note

The factor 1.4 is an aproximation of the actual costs to nxt for an employee.

Example

  • You've worked 80% during the first semester and earned CHF 80'640 (for 80%).
  • The maximum allowed number of vacations days to convert for full-time employees is five.
  • Your total extra rewards sum is CHF 4'000.

This means:

  • One of your working days amounts to CHF 448: (80640 / 2) / ( 252 / 2 ) * 1.4 = 448
  • You are allowed to convert up to four days: 5 * 0.8 = 4
  • You can convert up to four vacation days: (4 * 448) = 1792
  • CHF 2'720 will be added to your cash income: 4000 - 1792 = 2208

Dividend

The management of nxt shall not suggest a dividend that exceeds half of the sum of the boni of the respective accounting period to the shareholders, i.e. the ratio between boni and dividend shall not exceed two to one.

Attention Gifts

Extraordinary performance should be rewarded. For this reason, the management can promptly (i.e. not at the end of the year) reward employees who perform outstanding work with a small gift.

Seniority Gifts

In recognition of special loyalty to nxt, the employee receives a gift of seniority from nxt after two, four and eight years of service, and every 8th year subsequently.

The seniority gift includes n education and n vacation days, whereas n is the number of years of service or maximum 8. The education days can be used for extensive further training in a specific area. Have a look at the training rules for additional information.

For employees with part-time working hours, the amount of the seniority gift is adjusted to the average employment level since the last seniority gift or the start of employment. The previous seniority gift expires at the time of the next seniority gift.

Courtesy Gifts

Employees who have been working for nxt for at least three months and who are still employed, are entitled to the following additional gifts:

  • Marriage or registered partnership: CHF 500
  • Birth or adoption: CHF 250
